Services
The Laboratory Information Services (LIS) department is responsible for the support and maintenance of the information systems used by the Department of Laboratory Medicine, including all the peripheral devices used in conjunction with these systems. The primary software applications used are Sunquest Laboratory and CoPath Plus. The CoPath Plus application is used by the Anatomic Pathology, Molecular Genetics, and Cytogenetics departments. All other areas of the clinical lab utilize the Sunquest Laboratory system.

The Sunquest Laboratory database has all patient clinical lab results on-line since 1998. CoPath Plus has case information on-line since 1991. In addition, the Sunquest system is interfaced (receives lab orders from and sends results back) to the hospital's EPIC information system and the laboratory outreach access, ChidLinks.

The LIS maintains and supports approximately 15 servers, 17 application interfaces, 18 instrument interfaces, 60 printers, 150 PCs, and over 300 scheduled reports.
