The Cytogenetics Laboratory
The Cytogenetics Laboratory has provided a valuable service to Nationwide Children's Hospital, as well as to hospitals, clinics, and physicians across the state of Ohio, for over 30 years. In addition to chromosome and FISH (fluorescence in situ hybridization) studies for a number of microdeletion syndromes, the Cytogenetics/Molecular Genetics laboratories offer Microarray analysis.
The Molecular Genetics Laboratory
The Molecular Genetics Laboratory continues to expand its' selection of molecular testing that started in the mid-1990's. Dr. Gastier-Foster serves as the director and has played a critical roll in its' development. The laboratory currently offers many clinical tests and continues to expand test offerings in pediatric cancer and pediatric inherited diseases. Certified Genetic Counselor, Devon Lamb-Thrush works jointly with the Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics laboratories.
